Razer's no-compromises flagship

The Viper V3 Pro is what happens when a manufacturer chases every number at once: 54 grams, a 35K sensor, optical switches, and 8000Hz wireless polling included in the box — no separate dongle purchase. After two weeks of testing, it is clear this is the most technically aggressive gaming mouse on sale.

The shape question

Razer flattened the rear hump and stretched the profile versus the Viper V2. The result is a claw and fingertip specialist: the flatter back gives knuckle-room for aggressive claw grips, and at 54g flicks are effortless. Palm grippers with larger hands may find the low rear unsupportive over long sessions — this is the first decision point, and it is about your grip, not the mouse's quality.

8000Hz: real or marketing?

At 8000Hz polling, motion at high flick speeds is measurably smoother on a high-refresh monitor — we could distinguish 1K from 8K in controlled side-by-sides on a 240Hz OLED, though the gap is smaller than marketing implies. The catch: battery drops sharply at 8K. Our testing matched Razer's ~95-hour rating only at 1000Hz; competitive players should expect to charge every few days at full polling.

Sensor and switches

The Focus Pro 35K Gen-2 is superb — flawless tracking, excellent lift-off calibration, and smart features like asymmetric cut-off for players who tilt the mouse. Optical Gen-3 switches are crisp with zero double-click risk by design, rated for 90 million clicks.

The annoyances

Synapse remains heavyweight software for what should be simple tasks, though onboard memory means you can configure once and uninstall. There is no Bluetooth. And while the included 8K dongle is appreciated, it is another puck on your desk.

The verdict
